Excellent.

Aside from the one comment on how no one should condemn armed struggle, I think this is the most serious articulation of the necessity of Republican unity yet. The moral legitimacy of armed struggle cannot be question but the practical reality speaks to the obvious futility of it at this moment.

I hope this is widely circulated and discussed and it merits serious engagement by all. I hope all republicans enter into this debate, including the "government of the Irish Republic" (RSF and CIRA.)

She didn't state no one should condemn it she said no republican could question its legitimacy, but could questions its tactical or strategic capability at any given time, which i think is a point you have made and one that all republicans should agree with. I think the other point she made was also valid that without an agreed strategy it is not credible for people from one organisation to go to people from an armed one and tell them to quit on the basis that it doesn't fit their own strategy, this is also an incentive for political engagement. AS is not wrong but at present it may be counter productive, that argument has to be made or refuted but at present it is not being made to those currently engaged in it or who reserve the right to engage in it.

The emphasis on practicalities is central. Meandering monologues on ideological purity are cul de sac strategies. Initial reports from the Derry meeting are very positive with some interesting ideas being acted upon. Hopefully they will bear fruit.

The meeting in derry was very heartening in regards the crowd,speakers and the actually discussion.
There was geniune willingness from all taking part to further republicanism and engage in unity which is crucial and everyone from all difference shades of republicanism had their say.

The general concensus from the floor also was that people have had enough talking and aspiring to do something and it was now time to get down to business.
