Alban Maginness, the SDLP nomination who is a barrister and MLA would make a fine justice minister.

Did we just see a great big fudge last week as no party could afford an election at this juncture.

No, Brown's threat of an election concentrated DUP minds. P & J will be devolved on March 9.

As for the notion that Sinn Féin are living in fear of an SDLP pincer movement - well, it's laughable!

The poster who referred to 15 minutes of fame put it best.

Wee Reggie is also playing hard to get. Meanwhile the SDLP are still having a hissy fit about the Justice Ministry.

And yet this lot would pretend that they are better than Sinn Féin and the DUP!

I never suggested that SF are in Fear of the SaDLP, They may be in fear of a 3 way split in unionism resulting in them becoming the largest party and thus sending the whole political system in the six counties into free fall due to the undemocratic response to A republican first minister nomination.
SF would fear this out come because it would certainly mean an end to the power sharing notion.

There's considerable merit in that point.

As expected, the UUP have also refused to nominate a candidate using similar vague excuses which the DUP and Alliance used.

'The mood isnt right' 'The confidence isnt there' bla bla bla.........

The SDLP are the only party to nominate a candidate.

Jesus this Stormont crap really is turning into a ridiculous charade.
Pack of clowns the lot of them.

Reg had a longstanding appointment in his diary which he was unable to cancel in order to meet Robinson and McGuinness. A UUP meeting!

It seems to me that the smaller parties dont accept that they have a smaller influence on things so they grandstand and stick their chest out more to try and copy their larger more successful cousins.
