I think it is fair to say that we shoudl all redouble our efforts to get policing devolved in the six counties - for the good of all who live there whether protestant or catholic.

I've long been of the opinion that policing administration in the North ,if left to SF and DUP or someone else acceptable to both of them , wouldn't stand a chance. Every proposal , let alone decision, would be viewed through the prism of sectarian pettiness which is the very oxygen of both of those parties.

Agreed, factual. Atm we're (community) gettin nowhere.

So what would you do? If these are the two parties being elected time after time, then there's nothin can be done, except that the parties change from within, and promote that change. It's clear that Sinn Féin have changed somewhat, even if they're not accepted by everyone. The DUP clearly haven't, as they're still limited to "their side" of the community.

I get what you're sayin. The entire community needs to brought together first and foremost, and therefore a UI should become more acceptable (through time).

I would have policing and justice matters handled through Whitehall , with a consultative body between Dublin and London. In the meantime, let SF and DUP show that they've grown up by carrying out their duties responsibly in the other departments. All you have to do is look at Education at Stormont to see there's a long way to go.
