• Taoiseach critcised after saying people's "mad borrowing" and greed led to crash

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has entered a whirlwind of criticism after telling an assembled audience in Davos that the people of Ireland engaged in "mad borrowing" which led to Ireland's economic crash.

Kenny, who was speaking on a panel discussion entitled Rebuilding Europe at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland said that the people, banks and greed led to a "spectacular" crash, but that he was optimistic that confidence was growing in Ireland among the international business community.

The comments by Kenny in Switzerland are being widely compared to his comments at his State of the Nation address in December when he told viewers "you are not responsible for the crisis".
