    SpunOut encourages younger voters to inform themselves of Fiscal Treaty debate through series of interviews with Yes/No people (and Shane Ross)

    Youth charity SpunOut have launched an information website to encourage younger people to become more aware of the Fiscal Treaty referendum taking place this day week. The organisation has conducted interviews with politicians are questions by younger people were submitted.

    Paul Murphy says Fiscal Treaty No won't affect corporation tax "which is too low"

    Socialist Party MEP for Dublin Paul Murphy has said this morning that a Fiscal Treaty No vote would not have an affect on Ireland's corporation tax, which Murphy says is too low. Murphy was responding to comments made by Europe Minister Lucinda Creighton yesterday, who warned that tax might have to go up if Ireland didn't have a source of funding after 2013.

    Sinn Féin motion seeks to turn Moore St into historic battlefield

    Sinn Féin, with the support of Fianna Fáil are using Private Members Business this evening to propose a motion on the preservation Moore Street. Sinn Fein want the area preserved as a "historic quarter and battlefield site", warning of the threat of a "current" planning application. However no current planning application actually exists.

    Communications Minister cites "race to the bottom" in coverage of politics by the media

    Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte has delivered a speech to journalists today where he's cited a "race to the bottom" in sections of the print media in their coverage of politics. Rabbitte, speaking to the Association of European Journalists also said that online professional commentary sits "alongside pieces of pure ephemera and cant". His speech in full is below the fold.

    Enda Kenny says he won't participate in Vincent Browne hosted Fiscal Treaty debate with Gerry Adams

    TV3 yesterday announced that they had invited Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams to participate in a live Fiscal Treaty debate hosted by Vincent Browne to take place just days before the May 31st referendum. Adams yesterday confirmed he'd accepted the invitation, now Kenny has told Newstalk that he will not.

    Update at 5.45pm: Vincent Brown has now offered to step aside in chairing the debate. Full statement is below the fold.

    European Movement praises Ministers for EU attendance, criticises lack of civil society engagement with the EU

    Irish Ministers have the second highest attendance at EU Council meetings according to research published today to mark Europe Day. The research is contained in the Accountability Report 2011, produced by the European Movement Ireland. The report however highlights a lack of civil society and NGO engagement in the developing of legislation at an EU level.

    Taoiseach Enda Kenny told the Dáil this morning that he spoke with the French President-elect Francois Hollande this morning to congratulate him on his election victory. Kenny, speaking during Leaders Questions said that Hollande fully understands and respects that Ireland is holding a referendum on the Fiscal Treaty in 23 days time.
