does anyone know what time the butler centre is open to the public at to view the count?

It starts at 9am but I think you need a ticket to enter the count centre.

Seems the loss of transfers hurt the WP a lot. A few more and you would of had 2 or 3 seats.

Maybe the leaflet was not such a good idea after all?

Interesting coming from people who believed the Workers Party wouldn't be within an asses roar of a seat. Willie Moore missed out by 50 votes in Waterford South, Joe Tobin by a tiny 8 vote margin in East. It is entirely academic as to what might have happened if or when but the fact is that the Workers Party is still a force in Waterford (out polling Sinn Fein) and is now reestablished in Cork with the election of Ted Tynan. Despite your wishful thinking we haven't gone away and we're not going to. Now spin all you like, you'll only make yourselves dizzy.

In fairness you proved me wrong in my prediction for the WP. I severely underestimated them. A lot of the disgruntled vote seemed to go their way and SF also took a hammering in Waterford.

That said I reckon Moore and Tobin wouldn't have known what to do with themselves had they been elected.

That was one hell of a performance. Waterford East isn't traditionally a WP area - then again it has also elected an FF candidate.

i said at best all you could hope for was walsh to keep his seat.thats what you got.
if your beaten by 1 vote or 1000 votes doesnt matter.wp in waterford has gone from 3 seats to 1 seat over the last 5 years.this thread is about waterford and i couldnt care less about cork.davy walsh will be 70 next time out and probably wont stand again.that seat has been left down a cul de sac.
who will be the wp candidate in the next general election?i think the answer is nobody.

There was a big swing to the left, as you predicted, and not to middle of the road parties, as you predicted.

A very respectable performance from the WP-Joe Tobins vote really surprised me.
