re my assertion on sales, quite simply put many people i know get guardian weekly subscriptions or buy ft. its that simple really. reasons cited include lack of analysis particularly on foreign policy and geopolitics. I tend to agree, theres a lack of context which bores me and others too.

I hate the Times, hate it's editor, it's reporters, it's blatant pro-Lisbon bias, it's crappy type face and I hate that it rivals a company I have shares in.

Still, it was, many moons ago, a somewhat decent paper. I'd prefer not to see it go under but rather just be bought by someone else (Denis O'Brien perhaps).

Exactly on the money. The advertising across all papers has been crucified. The Times ran twice this late summer without a single fully paid page of advertising.

The ABCs are ok, its the €€€... watch the other groups....
