Looks like an excellent book. O'Brien also wrote an superb history of the Irish Press. |

It does cover "ecclesiastical history", but there's nothing to suggest it might be linked with the barbed-wire brigade. |

| Actually, Four Courts Press do publish a few books that seem to be sympathetic to Opus Dei : Four Courts Press: Opus Dei in the Church by P. Rodriguez, F. Ocariz & J.L. Illanes Four Courts Press: Opus Dei by Vittorio Messori Four Courts Press: The Founder of Opus Dei: the Life of Josemaría Escrivá, Vol. I by Andrés Váquez de Prada There may be a link. But at the same time, it's unlikely a publishing house dominated by an ultra-conservative Catholic group would permit a sympathetic biography of a newspaper known for its Protestant liberalism. So there might be OD sympathies, but not enough to skew the whole slant of the publishing house. EDIT: Kieron Wood, himself a traditionalist Roman Catholic, states FCP's head, Michael Adams, is a member of Opus Dei here: http://archives.tcm.ie/businesspost/...ry52558528.asp Last edited by Starkadder; 3rd November 2008 at 08:33 PM. |
