Default Gutter journalism Via the Mail on Sunday : Melanie Dawn taken out of context.

a young woman air traffic controller was contacted this morning by a pal and told that her pic along with a sensational bit of claptrap had been published in the mail on Sunday. The journo had culled bits from her blog , added some spit and twisted her story. I am surprised that no-one thought to cover this, its been rankling journalists, bloggers and tweeters for close on 11 hours. Melanie's words are here : http://melschregardus.wordpress.com/...ail-on-sunday/

I actually flicked through the Mail in the shop on the way home tonight and saw that article, my first thought was 'cheap ideologically motivated b*ll*cks'. Knowing now that it's just stuff stolen from a blog and twisted it looks bad enough to warrant a sacking of the journalist involved. Lazy and dishonest.

there are 45 comments attached to her response to the Mail on Sunday. l think she has had tremendous support and well wishes and really needs it at the minute. She has also received some good professional advice : In response to Irish Mail on Sunday .. MelanieDawn

We should hardly be surprised that a NOB head paper like the Mail would do this...!!

A new twist to internet "publishing"...I suppose.
We have seen pics from facebook that do the facebook-ie no favours....and I suppose this is the next step!

Oh she should absolutely sue them. The professional damage caused by such misrepresentation could have been immense, it still could (unfairly) cause her severe trust problems at work. She absolutely has a good case.

Standard Mail on Sunday stuff so, although not always considered to be so by everyone.

Shoddy journalism. But it is a reminder of the dangers of blogging. People sometimes forget that when you put something on the net it is public for all to read and potentially to use. But how the paper twisted the blog and misrepresented the context was totally wrong and unacceptable. Unfortunately it embodies the standards of some British papers in Ireland.

They're capable of good journalism, as you will well remember as cherished memories. They're also capable, in the tradition of the English version, of gutter-dredging. This (like the Cullen episode) is awful.

Simple copyright at the bottom of the page would mitigate against those dangers. I wonder did she copyright hers?
