We are above that surely, no?
Any difficulties arising from a decision to allow this family stay need to be addressed.
No, I am trying to get you to face facts. You have consistently refused to answer this question and I have posed it several times.

Are you only concerned with this particular family and agree that mere generalised problems in Nigeria do not result in a right for every Nigerian person with children to remain in Ireland.

If you have only concern for this particular family I wonder why.

Horace Horse wrote - in a particularly vicious manner
Quote:
To return to O'Gorman, this man had no prior record in human rights. In several years in public view he had made no pronouncement on the things he is now most exercised about--war in Iraq, female circumcision etc. etc. His only political history was as a member of a right-wing monetarist political party which had in two decades established a zero record on human rights issues. And while in that party O'Gorman showed no interest in human rights.

And now this fellow (was he even chosen as a result of open competition?) has the cheek to lecture Irish people about these matters?

Shut up, O'Gorman, you have no standing in any matters of human rights.

You're a fraud and a hypocrite!

However some in here could do with castration for some of the racists remarks

Any racist remarks here have been made by PI's supporters.

Thats an irrelevance in the circumstances, Ody, as it remains for our State to determine her claim. It may be something that they took into account in determining her claims veracity, in terms of credibility. We can only deport her to Nigeria so it is there you have to consider.

Are you for real? My concern is two children being exposed to, a 25% chance, of being mutilated in a most barbnaric way. No need to go seaching for conspiracy theories, simple humanity is my motive. And as stated over and over and over, any problems arising from a decison to allows these children stay here would need to be addressed.

Harry,

It's all about credibility in determining a claim, in the absence of documentary proof.

Proof in documentary form, obviously, would have been a real death cert. etc.

Without that the only method of determining a claim is credibility, in terms of the written form submitted and the subsequent interview and appeal, be it written or oral.

Obviously, the method of her travel caused some concern and now the forged document is the nail in the coffin of credibility, in terms of Pamela's case.

Read my other contributions on the asylum issue. I am, if I do say so, reasonable on the issue and usually am the one getting it in the neck from the more right wingers on the site. I have always stood for due process and the proper determination of claims.

However, on this issue, her credibility is in tatters and that, unfortunately, is no basis on which to grant someone leave to remain in Ireland.

So anyone presently in Ireland from Nigeria could never be sent back there because of the incidence of generalised FGM. Fair enough. We have you now. That is a very humane view point, though, I have to say, quite the most impractical thing I have read in a bit.

I was not alleging any conspiracy theory. Just that if you did not have the above view you would not be consistent is all!!

Do you not read posts? And who is the 'we' that 'have me'? I have stated over and over and over and over again, that any problems arising from a decision to allow this family stay here would have to be addressed. However the scaremongering that we would be unindated with claims for asylum does not impress me either.

She should return to the first EU state she entered and let them deal with this issue under the Dublin Convention.

Brenda Power is spot-on. Down with the PC-brigade in Dublin 4, Leinster House and the IT. D.Harry, does it count as grief when the child never existed? Give that woman an Oscar.
