| Congaltee, why don't you post the figures from 1977-1987?

| Thanks for the private message Congaltee: "If you cannot improve on a blank screen, do not post. There are 8 major statistics on how the Party you support left the economy in the OP. Deal with them or don't bother posting." I already posted. I mentioned how ridiculous it was to blame FG for the mess of the 1980s while ignoring the mess they were handed using an example. |

| Would it not be fair to say that as long as we follow the neoliberal policies that we do, no matter who is in charge, booms will be followed by busts and it will always be the ordinary working man/woman who picks up the tab while a minority have made their millions. The FG/FF spat is getting boring at this stage. |

| (1) FF messed up the situation from 1977 (Lynch, then Haughey) ONe of worst governments ever. (2) FG/Lab was also terrible. FG too weak to stand up to Labour and labour's socialism meant poor business sense and wouldn't stand up to Unions i.e. everyone paid so unions would be okay. (3) FF 1987 was one of the best ever goverments. Mac Sharry made major cuts, closed down hospitals, class sizes we could afford etc. Tough choices indeed. Set the way for the 1990s real growth. Alan Dukes also deserves massive praise for allowing the government make such tough decisions. While, there should be an election to give a government a mandate to deal with this crises, the next best thing would be for Enda Kenny to do an Alan Dukes and for FF to do a Ray McSharry. It causes hardship but is proven to work. A short sharp shock sets the way for growth and is better for all in the long run. |

lynch was the worst thing to ever happen the Irish economy. It can be taken as a given that his government had gross mismanagement of the economy. Next came Haughey with his divided party. Then Fitzgerald with a paper thin majority. Then GUBU. These five years were disaster. Only cowen/ahern have a worst record. So November 1982, take it from there....

| My party wasn't in power from 1977-81, or for most of 1982. Quote:

| Do you think it's possible to take over a bad situation and then make it a lot worse? No sensible person think either the 77-81 governemnt or the 82-87 government were any good. don't you realise how silly it makes you look that you can't admit any fault in your own party?? |
