Very interesting blog post from Arthur Doohan on his blog today ... "Sleeping with the fishes".

This clearly shows the level of anger and disenchantment within some sections of the Green Party. I know that many more GP members feel similar to this ... I was talking to one ex Cllr over the weekend who expressed similar sentiments. I have not seen this level of anger from Green grassroots before ... even in 2007 when the Greens were entering Govt with FF, or over the last 2 years when the pressure on Tara, Rossport, Shannon, etc was really on. This is different.

Doohan's entire blog post is reproduced below.

"Given the complete abscence of the GP Parliamentary Party from the Joint Finance Committee hearing on NAMA, one is forced to conclude that the Greens are a dead ‘fish’ in Irish politics; present, visible, floating on the top but contributing nothing, achieving nothing, slowly rotting.

I do hope John and Eamon managed to achieve a pretty arrangement of the ‘Green’ deckchairs that day, so that they have some happy memories of their useless time in Govt.

At the first public debate on the topic of what is acknowledged by one and all as the biggest financial committment of the State ever and the determinant of our prosperity for the next 15 years, we had nothing to say.

Previously, I have been sad or unhappy or dissapointed but have tried to work with the ‘grain’ of the PP’s program. As of now, I am disgusted and angry."

Powerful words. Words from a Green Party member who stood for the party in the last Local Elections. There is real disgust and anger within the Green Party.

The Green Party is imploding. That is definite. The only question is how long more before the Greens rip themselves apart from the inside out.

Gormley has wrecked the party, and what has he achieved ? A cycle to work scheme and different light bulbs.

pity because E Ryan is an excellent minister for energy. he is visonary, competent, knowledgeable and is passionate about his job. he'll be missed. can't say the same for Gormley.

I used to have a lot of time for Ryan, but sadly no more. He is nothing more than an FF lapdog at this stage. Its a shame, because the man had massive potential. Cant wait to see the back of him and Gormley.

They just don't get it do they?

Dan does not understand why people are upset, annoyed and disgusted by him and the Greens performance. Its not just Alan Shatter that's upset Dan. Its also many many ordinary, decent Green Party members and voters.

That one twitter post by Dan Boyle is the exact reason why the anger and disgust shown in my OP is correct. It is only a matter of time before the Green Party tears itself to bits.

Its the FF arrogance that Dan is showing.

Are you referring to the fact that Dan Boyle's father, Joe, is a lifelong member of Fianna Fáil, and chairman of the local Charles Daly cumann in Turners Cross in Cork city?

He could be an FF plant in the party. Gormley is def an FFer also.

Anyway back OT. Anyone got any other comments/opinions on the OP?
