    Trinity College & The Tricolour

Does anyone know if TCD has a public reason for why it doesn't fly the tricolour, could it be changed and has anyone tried?

It was flying some day last year I believe... Dont think there is any rule against it..
Ireland interests are best secured within a more dynamic EU. Vote YES to Lisbon.

Why would it fly the tricolour?

I'm sure you're just looking for an invitation to say something profound with that comment so lead on Macduff

I'm really not. I can't think of any reason for a university to fly the national flag. Apparently, you can, so...

I think the point is that it did fly the Jack back in the day it was a bastion of unionism in Dublin... wait a minute, it still is. I suppose we should be relieved it doesn't still fly the Jack then.

Apart from the hisotrical links between Trinty and Britain that statement has no basis in fact. There is now no 'bastion of unionism' in Trinity. Although why we dont have a national flag flying is baffling.

To encounter such perfect ignorance is always a pleasure. The only role Trinity fulfils today in respect of unionism is that it annually takes in hundreds of young northern unionists and cures them of their political malady.

Well there was the case where a few 'wags' as they were known then, climbed the front arch to raise a Union Jack on VE day. Many people haven't forgotten or forgiven that. As a former student of Trinity however, I can say that whatever faults it might have, Triniity is not nowadays a bastion of unionism. Hedonism maybe.
