"The party of the people" Thier policies are miles apart from their actions. Leadership rotten to the core in the pay of British intelligence. Sent hundreds of young men to an early grave or prison to put Ian Paisley into power and copperfasten partition..

I wouldnt rule out Fianna Fáil if I was you. Ógra FF is active in the vast majority of constituencies. In DL, it is incredibly strong and was to the fore in re-electing Barry & Mary.

You need to sit down and look at all your options re: parties.

Look at what each have done, what you personally believe needs to be done and look at the party which has the ability to brinbg about change for the better in the shortest amount of time possible.

I'll be honest, sometimes I wonder will I look back on sites like this in 5 years time and cringe.

I am so glad that the forums I used to browse ten years ago no longer exist, reading the crap a 14 year old me probably spouted would be too much.

I helped out at the General Elections during the count.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get involved with a local party? Fine Gael or Labour maybe.
Okay. That's your first problem, right there . . .

A point on YFG, they really are terrifyingly well organised. I am a former member (joined as a knee-jerk reaction against FF back in 2008, left very quickly after realising what a mistake that was) and the unbelievable thing is that there is practically no discussion of policy of any kind, more or less. The organisation is brilliantly organised, with organised and active branches spreading seemingly everywhere across the country. Yet despite this massive scope and potential, its members basically just discuss different ways in which they can support FG policy. Impressive, yet extremly worrying.

    Hello friends,

Sometimes it's hard to imagine one person making a difference in this world. A lot of challenges face our society. Some are huge, some are more manageable, but all require the action of at least one person. Start making the world a better place by being that person on the local level. Get involved in local politics and see the world change before your eyes.

Politics can be an addictive pursuit.

Highly recommend that before you get involved that you complete your education and start your career.

    Hello friends,

The single best way to get to know your local party leaders and candidates, as well as other activists, is to go to your town or county political committee meetings. These meetings are usually open to any member of the party, and provide a great opportunity for you to not only get to know other people in the party, but to learn about the issues facing your community as well. Call your local party to find out the time and location of these meetings.

    Best regards
    Marie Colvin

If you are going into politics for a career think again, the people will see straight through you we want people who know what they are talkin about so a degree in finance or law would be first and about ten years of work in them office then put your name on the ballot paper.
