    Ógra Fianna Fáil

I am currently a 6th year student in Dublin West. I am a member of Fianna Fáil and welcome the new members magazine. However, I am disillusioned with the youth wing of our party. I believe that young Fianna Fáil is being dominated by college students. The problem with this is that our national youth conference and other events are being turned into parties. This is in place of decent political debate. I as a relativly young memeber of Fianna Fáil would like to try and change our party. I believe that the majority of people who get involved with Ógra only do so in college. The politcal life of those people is only equal in length to their college degrees. These are not the people we need in the party. I believe that we need people who want to change the communities and the society they live in through politics.
Instead our youth wing is dominated by college students who just take on the typical student role of opposing everything and filling silly positions such as Ard Comhairle etc. Many of the Ard Comhairle of our youth wing will never and have no interest in ever truly becoming interested in politics. I just want to ask if anyone else feels this frustration. I do not want to be involved in youth politics if it is centred on partying rather than constructive debate.

Master Fagans, allow me offer you some genuine advise: Join another party. Or, if you don't feel like doing that, join no party at all. Anything -- anything -- would be better than spending your youth on that washed up, relegated, parasitic semi-reanimated corpse of a party.

There are poor families in Dublin West going cold and even hungry this time of year. Help them. Not Fianna Fail.

Why would a relative young member, as you describe yourself, use the handle of "Fagans"? what image are you trying to project? Only one man springs too mind when I see that name....

You're a young lad. Why waste your time posting on websites complaining about your peers drinking and partying. That's what FF do. Every second time Bertie Ahern was pictured he had a pint in his hand. Cowen went on Morning Ireland when he was pissed. So head for the bar my lad and join your fellow party members and toast the disastrous state your party has left our country in. Unless you do you'll have an unhappy life in FF.

I am not a party drone I do have a mind of my own. I realise that Bertie Ahern done an awful lot of bad for the economy but equally he has done good. I believe that the lack of charisma we seen in Brian Cowen and in our current leader Micheal Martin is affecting the party. In our past people such as Sean Lemass and De Valera made our party great. I just feel that as a young member of Fianna Fáil we are merely putting on an image of a changed party whle still promoting the same culture behind closed doors.
I just want to try and change our party from the bottom up not from the top down.

Is this a joke? You complain about FF parties and you call yourself Fagan. I know Fagans Bar in Drumcondra and the FFrs that went in there were a bunch of racketeers who knew how to party. What a joke.
