Limerick Says NO to IMF dictatorship

Video produced by Socialist Youth to advertise a series of events in Limerick to mark the IMF visit to Ireland. These events are being organised by activists from Socialist Youth together with others from different groups, movements and none. The details are:

    - Thursday July 14th: Free Screening of "New Rulers of the World" by John Pilger, starting at 8pm upstairs in Dolans.

    - Saturday July 16th: Open Protest 'Limerick Says NO to IMF dictatorship" starting at 2pm outside Penneys.
Check it out on facebook: "Limerick Says No to IMF Dictatorship"

A few "head the balls" with a projector, is not Limerick.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

If there is one area of the country that needs investment it is Limerick. Limerick should be taking IMF money and investing it in new business, infrastructure such as a decent Foynes rail link and a move away from a reliance on FDI. As the city with most social problems outside of Dublin, can Limerick afford not to sucking on the IMF/ECB teat at this time? I'd argue it cannot.

Maybe Keith, but what ever daft ideas they come up with cannot be as totally useless as what your buddy Willie O'Dea has delivered for Limerick over the last 23 years.

You see Keith, You just don't get it.

O'Dea & his style of politics has left a terrible legacy in Limerick.

There will be no economic progress in Limerick until we see the back of him & his kind.

So, no, It will be after the next election before I get over my O'Dea "obsession"

WW's right to a degree, O'Dea's worthless, but the fact is we're a very small country, Limerick's remote from any international trading partner, and anything you can do there, you can do in the larger city of Cork. Not every city can be a success in the long term.

As for the protesters, best of luck to them. Limerick hasn't said no of course, they just voted in a bunch of TDs who were all committed to repaying the country's debts.
If you're the first out the door, that's not called panicking.

This thread shows why Ireland is in a mess.
Some one posts about a group who are going to stage protests about the EU/IMF bailout, and straight away people are in to slag them off. There's no cohesion..no bond between Irish people. It all seems to be a "me and them" type of attitude.
I couldn't care less who is staging the protests, I wish them the best of luck, and if I could join in, I would.
Unfortunatly, it's far easier to sit at home and let other people do the protesting, and then moan about them on a forum.
