    A "young" politics.ie

Came across a website today which was amusing. Home - The Young Economist apparently it has been created to allow young people to discuss the issues of today with other young people interesting idean and nice to see younger people giving it a go although perhaps it needs alot more development.

I think p.ie generally averages quite a low age (relative to me anyway), so any younger would have to be practically neo-natal..

The P.ie survey done several months ago showed that the age profile here is rather higher than you might expect. I can't remember the details, but a fairly high percentage of users are in their forties and often quite a bit older. I would have thought this was mainly a 20- and 30-something forum, but not so.

The survey was not weighted by posts. People who write 60 posts a day are weighted the same as people who write three a week. The site is dominated by the former group, and we don't know their demographic details.

Interesting. I wonder what the average age on p.ie was prior to the economy's implosion - whether there are more older or younger people on here since people realised that political decisions or behavior actually do affect them directly. I also wonder whether political alignment has changed, e.g. more people beginning to wonder whether free-marketeering and deregulation was a load of nonsense after all, more people beginning to question whether a single currency was such a brilliant idea, etc...
