I don't know if we're to take the OP seriously or not , but I know gays of all and no political persuasions. The only thing most of them have in common is the right to marry , but , surprisingly , one or two aren't too bothered about even that.

Is the term 'the gays' an acceptable form of collective description these days?

Some of the stuff I heard was dreadful from these young debators. The amount of liberterain selfish crap spouted from these little ************************s in suits was terrifying. While they were all pro-abortion, gay marriage etc it was all privatisation, pro-rich, anti-worker rhetoric. I'd hate to be in uni today.
This post displays much more about you than the subject matter (such as it is) that you so insultingly raise.

I'd hate to be ANYWHERE with you!

Im left wing liberal and never really have any tendencies towards the right. Some of my gay friends are in general a mix of either right wing or left wing.

No. It suggests something less than respect.

Could it be that alot of the gay right wing has simply come out. Perhaps they were always there but unable to balance their sexuality with the economic or social views, they chose to remain in the closet.

What about your infatuation with Ulster Unionism????

I think the fact that you were at a Trinity debate soc meeting had more influence on the fact that you were hearing such 'liberterain selfish crap' than the sexual orientation of the debaters.
By the way, not all minorities vote left and not all members of one minority vote the same way. I think it's funny that leftists break people up into distinct groups (usually by race), and then assume that everybody within that group acts according to some generic stereotype. It is the right wing who treat people as real individuals who can think for themselves.
Reminds me of the democratic senator who recently quipped that he couldn't imagine how a Hispanic person could vote republican.
