The DOHC doesn't seem to be planning savage cuts in the Special Delivery Unit which Reilly established to slash trolley waits and elective waiting lists as it seems!

In addition to the €85 million budget, its 16 staff and its senior advisor (Martin Connor who Reilly appointed because of his relative success in NI) the DOHC now plans to hire external consultants on one or multiple contracts at unknown costs to Johnny taxpayer so that the SDU and Martin Connor can actually achieve on their mandate to slash elective waiting lists, OPD waiting times and access to diagnostics.

But rest assured the successful tenderer will need to be able to demonstrate "a strong ethical basis for their work and be motivated by a passion to ensure that no patient suffers unnecessary indignity or delay while accessing hospital services in Ireland" and have "significant experience in delivering sustainable improvements in scheduled care, including streamling hospital outpatient systems" .

Well done to Dr Sharon O'Donnell,for highlighting the cuts made by FG+Labour.She has grave concerns at proposed cutbacks at the hospital.

Paudie Coffey has responded to these claims I see from his facebook page.

Coffey said that SF are scaremongering and said their behavior was reprehensible and pathetic.

In fact Coffey tells a different story all-together from SF claims, he says that WRH will actually get 5 new consultant posts in 2012, which he claims is a serious commitment by the government to Regional Hospital during these economic times.

I have to say that SF releasing a report on an issue like this only puts the fear of god up vulnerable people, and it is completely reckless and crass. They have some neck as well when apparently they are making €2.3billion worth of cuts in the North's health system while opposing everything down here!

What a rather sad and pathetic response from him and FG,Yet its not surprising.
As you probably follow him on facebook goreyboy,ask him does he know anything about the impending closure of "Surgical ward five"...Also one theatre closed last year,and another two proposed to close this year also the proposed 10% reduction in day cases? and thats not all of it.
Scaremongering he says?The cheek of this government.
FG and Labour are spineless, full of lies and deceit,the people can now see that.
