There's a lot of buzz in DC about the fact that the Obama Transition Team is, according to one knowledgeable source, "very serious" about Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, being under consideration for Secretary of State.
ABC News can confirm that President-elect Barack Obama met with Clinton on Thursday afternoon at Obama’s downtown office in Chicago.
It'd be cruel if they were teasing her again !

It's been confirmed Hillary met with Obama yesterday, and her motorcade was seen leaving his Chicago transition HQ

This is his first bad staffing decision in my opinion, but the media seem to think shes qualified (I don't share that opinion)
He said he wanted a "cabinet of rivals" like lincoln, well you don't get more of a rival than Hillary...

    In other news.....

Russ Feingold (the only senator the vote against the Patriot Act its first time has called for Obama to bring in new leadership to all the lintel agencies.

A South Carolina preist is refusing communion to Obama supporters

Obamas advisers are also planning a bi-partisan investigation commission into Bush-era abuses like extraordinary rendition and torture, which may lead to prosicutions, it's making Bush apparently consider a sweeping blanket pardon of 100s or more officials involved in illegal activity....

Apparently she didn't want to go through all the vetting necessary to be picked as his VP running-mate and his team were also concerned about getting an unwanted two-for-one with Bill and Hillary Clinton.

I guess these factors might not be as important now that Obama's won.

I hope she gets appointed as Secretary for Health - her healthcare plans would revolutionise healthcare in the US.

Another important point. If as much of the media believe, Senator Jack Reed of RI becomes Defence Secretary (either from Day 1 or after Gates leaves after about a year), then GOP RI Governor Don Carcieri can replace Reed with a Republican in the Senate. Maybe Obama would be wise to bear that in mind, given that 41 Republicans can block his agenda and legislation in the Senate.

He better not appoint a republican to Homeland Security or Defence, it plays into this stupid "mommy and daddy" thing where the republicans are accepted (blindly and irrationally) as the best party for security.

Oh she'll go through vetting all right

If you wanna work for him you get a nice invasive 63 part questionnare....

McCain is meeting with the president-elect on Monday.

Will Obama complete the west wing Santos-Vinick parallels and offer him a cabinet job?

Secretary of Veterans Affairs (even tho he voted against the GI bill) or Homeland Security or Defense?

Do you really think it'd be that bad? The Clintons' stock is pretty high internationally, and they know everyone. It'd get Bill back out on the circuit at the same time--and on the road where Obama wouldn't have to look at him every day.

Couldn't agree more with you. He needs to distance the Reps from Homeland Security.
