    Obama supported Sharia law

When Obama went to Kenya in August of 2006 to campaign for his cousin Raila Odinga's election, paid for by the US taxpayer as he claimed it was a senate fact finding mission, he give his support to bringing Sharia law to Kenya.

Obama was hosted by Raila, his cousin, and spoke in praise of him at rallies in Nairobi: Obama's bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila's ‘stooge.’

Raila Odinga, then the current presidential frontrunner, had promised to implement strict Islamic Sharia law if he received the Muslim vote and was elected president. Odinga had signed a secret memorandum of understanding with Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Leaders Forum, in which Odinga had allegedly stated his intention, if elected, to: ‘within six months, rewrite the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Sharia as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions’. I hope Obama's female voters are ready to be stoned to death if they visit Kenya and even look sideways at a man.

I've heard of this before but i think it's a bit silly. The reality is that Odinga's plans only applied to the Somali Muslim regions of the country, rather than the whole country.

Who told you that, and even if thats true is still seriously (expletive) up

I heard about this on the Alex Jones show, then researched it on the net, I could't believe it when I found it reported in the Spectator, everyone who is anoyne in the media or politics in the UK reads that magazine, so a lot of big nobs know about this but are keeping it quite.

How Kenya governs itself is its own business.

Thats very true, but Obams's support of Sharia law is releveant to non Kenya people, to put it mildly.

Furthermore, sharia law should be introduced to muslim areas of a country if and only if it should be introduced to all areas of that country. Even muslims have rights in the face of their muslim community. If Sharia is just law, it's just law for everyone.

Whether someone is born a Muslim or lives in a predominantly Muslim area is usually immaterial to how he or she should be treated by a court.
sorry, i read this a few times but have no idea what you mean.

Odinga is not Obama's cousin. They are not related at all. The claim that they are related is an urban myth debunked last May. There only relationship is that their parents both came from the same area, an area the size of Dublin. By your logic I live in Dublin. Bertie Ahern comes from Dublin, therefore we must be related.

Obama was hosted by Raila, his cousin,
    No he wasn't.

and spoke in praise of him
    No he didn't.

    at rallies in Nairobi:
Odinga praised Obama, not Obama praised Odinga.

Obama's bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila's ‘stooge.’
    A complete urban myth.

Raila Odinga, then the current presidential frontrunner, had promised to implement strict Islamic Sharia law if he received the Muslim vote and was elected president.
No he didn't. He supported the idea of Muslim areas in a part-Christian part-Muslim country being able if wish to adopt Sharia law.[

Odinga had signed a secret memorandum of understanding
Some secret, if we know all about it!

with Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Leaders Forum,
whom as a candidate for the Kenyan presidency Odinga is allowed to speak to, if she wishes.

in which Odinga had allegedly stated his intention, if elected, to: ‘within six months, rewrite the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Sharia as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions’.
Which is what I said!!! You seem not to understand the difference between regions and countries.

I hope Obama's female voters are ready to be stoned to death if they visit Kenya and even look sideways at a man.
So in other words, you are complaining that because Barack Obama has family from the same couple of hundred mile radius as Odinga, they must be related, and because they are both politicians they must agree on policy, etc etc etc.

A silly silly thread. It s part of the 'Obama is a Muslim' urban myth being spread around to frighten the bejaysus out of Fundamental Christians in the election by claiming that because he is related to an African politician (ooh!) who happens to be a Muslim Obama is really a Muslim and part of some fundamentalist Muslim plot to sneak Sharia law and Islam into the god-fearin' good old US of A!

I don't know who is dumber, you or the journalist, for falling for the myth.

    The Spectator
The source of the quote in this blog comes from another blog that seems more than a little dodgy and besides it was written last January. If there was any real depth to it it would have been uncovered and milked to death by now.

As someone else pointed out this is probably one of thousands of last minute desperate attempts to spread fear about Obama.

Its very unlikely that the story was broke by the spectator, Philips is very virulently anti-Muslim and so would pick up on anything from a pro-Israel perspective that could be used to bash Obama, but that said its a very good smear, its something that would be very hard to disprove because the facts are simple. did he Obama, that is campaign for the guy (its not really relevant they might be cousins) and did he do so knowing that he supported Sharia Law.

Its a legitimate query and one that Obama must answer before the election, particularly so for the millions of women who are going to vote for him.

There have been a lot of follow up threads with a quote from the text such as Odinga is not Obamas cousin etc but no link to any site main stream or alternative to back the counter claim up.
