Why are the Democrats being treated with kid gloves?

The most puzzling question about this campaign is why the Republicans have not attacked Obama and the Democrats about the role Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Community Reinvestment Act played in the economic crisis. Instead, they allow Obama and Biden to put all the blame on Republicans. There is a line of thought that any criticism of the CRA would be seen as an attack on minorities leaving fat cat Wall Street off the hook.

There's another line of thought that says blaming a law enacted in 1975 for a meltdown that began about 25 years later doesn't make much sense.

I blame Ronald Reagan myself. He was a complete nut.

Without enough capital on Wall Street the government has to step in, and maybe not all that successfully. The high corporation taxes in the US are partly responsible for the flight of capital to Europe, Middle East, Russia and Asia. Dependency on foreign energy another reason. Now, which candidate espouse policies best positioned to address this?

Sarah Palin obviously. She's got the intelligence, economic savvy and of course the foreign policy experience to steer any government through these turbulent times.
We should be shaping an Ireland based on full respect for the human and civil rights of all our people, an Ireland of which Larkin and Connolly would be very proud.

Rather than a "line of thought", this could be better described as "a line of lack of thought".

McCain's associations with Freddie Mac are stronger & more recent than Obama's.
