    Terrorist Charge.

BBC NEWS | Americas | Palin makes Obama terrorist claim

There are many words which push little psychological buttons and of course
T-e-r-r-o-r-i-s-t is a very convenient one in the US Psyche. Palin decided
to de-rail any engagement with Obama by descending to the gutter and
'boxing' him. The issues of attacks on the Union had never really been discussed
in the Bush Presidency; So maybe Palin thought it a good idea to bring it up
    during the election campaign.

She accused Obama of 'palling round with terrorists who would target their own
    country' -

Thats about as low as you can go in the US and really rather nasty. it reminds me
of the fact that the issue of homegrown terrorism was never really discussed
during the Bush presidency. Nor the fact that the second biggest terrorist
attack in the US was by a white ex-marine who was executed three months
to the day before 9/11. The other context is Al-Q have been releasing on the
bail-out issue too , so Palin's descent into low body blows and testy nastiness
really does expose a dirty-tricks campaign. I s'pos putting a slash of lipstick
across a pretty face allows for nasty little digs especially when Biden went
on record saying that he would not be perceived as going hard on Palin in
debate because it might be considered 'sexist'- she's going for the vice presidency for
jayzhus sake, thus she prob has the bollix to take a perceived sexist attack anyway.

Yeah it is a very stupid thing to do.

Obama's links with the former terrorist, were already known anyway. So this isn't even new news.

You lot are in denial. It is a fact the Ayers was an Obama activist and fundraiser. The character of the president is important to voters (a reason invoked by Obama supporters and journalists as justification for the character assination of Sarah Palin) and people will want to know why Obama, knowing Ayers history, associated with him.

“Well, I was reading my copy of today’s New York Times and I was interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago,” Ms. Palin said.

Come back to us after you read the full story in the NYT that she is basing her attack on. This attack tells us much more about her character than about Obama.

Mc Veigh and the Waco issue

One of the bogeys of utilising emotive buzz words and jargon is it highlights
Palin's refusal to engage on issues that are outside of the Republican Party's
experience- such as the problems faced by the workers who went down to protest
at the bailout. It completely detracts from domestic policy and hives everything
off into the US psyche post 9/11.

The execution of Timothy Mc Veigh was lost in the 9/11 issue, the 'Axis of Evil' issue
and of course the real weakness of the Mc Cain team on Foreign Policy, much of which
has been published on this site. Waco happened and the bombing happened in
Oaklahoma, the problem with white disaffection and govt policy was shelved
when a National Bogeyman was instituted and the attackers were both Muslim and
'Foreign'. Palin is quite blithely pushing buttons on Vietnam- which of course
is intimately linked to Mc Cain's service and imprisonment. I think it a stupid thing
to do- cos lots of Americans fought against Vietnam and to accuse a senator
who is running for president of 'Terrorist Association' shows how low the woman can go.

Currently there are many servicemen and women running off to Canada to avoid
being part of US foreign policy in Iraq, Palin might play on the need for more
service people to work Republican foreign policy but in so doing she is blithely ignoring
contemporary disaffection with domestic policy issues and harping (forgive the pun)
on the patriotism issue. all well and good if ye are a 'Stay at home Mommy'
going for the second highest job in the US????

(and a token uber feminist to boot- omigod the woman has so many talents
    quite the superwoman indeed !)

Hmm, is it just me or is the spectre of Senator Joseph McCarthy, he of the 'Red Communist' scaremongering during the 1950s, rearing its ugly head again?

Because he's obviously possessed Sarah Palin.

    Begone, foul spirit!

    According to the New Yorker:

"Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, another activist Hyde Park couple, also held an event for Obama. Forty years ago, Ayers and Dohrn were leaders of the Weathermen, the militant antiwar group that bombed the Pentagon and the United States Capitol."
