Obama over and over would not say where he would reduce spending. He never stopped saying where he would spend.
Obama over and over would not say where he would reduce spending. He never stopped saying where he would spend.
Obama wins on economy, McCain apparently wins on foreign policy but basically spent most of his time defending the war in Iraq and putting out the message that the US will be staying in Iraq indefinitely.
A very poor tactic (or should that be strategy?).
Obama didn't come across nearly as well as McCain most of the time but sometimes used clearer, more direct, simpler language.
He badly needs to work on his ability to get his points across in clearer language and start using it all the time instead of just sometimes.
Well, the later ones will have more economics than foreign policy because this was the foreign policy debate. That suits Obama quite a bit.
Well on the economic debate McCain seemed to cope comfortably with Obama....Originally Posted by fergalr

I thought he was rather indecisive IMO, lots of uhming and areing, although McCain wasn't any great shakes either, it was steady from him.
He can't get away from the fact that he supported Bush's economic policies and the "fundamentals are strong" line will haunt him. The financial crisis is the backdrop to this part of the campaign and if it stays that way it suits Obama.Originally Posted by Dublinguy

A point Obama didn't make. Obama loses big time on that one.mccain kept going on about the success of the surge, the surge isn't succeeding,is temporary, unsustainable and and reversible to quote the general.
However, McCain's biggest mistake was to stress that he wants the US to stay in Iraq indefinitely. Obama was clever to repeat several times that the war is costing the US taxpayer $10 billion per month.
Well I'm only saying that because I'm watching FOX, and FOX being FOX should be hammering home the fact that Obama lost his cool occasionally, stuttered, unclear, failed to set some of his points home properly and decisively. But they're not, they're saying Obama "did what he had to do and did well", from their "conservatives" that is.Originally Posted by fergalr
