It's a Democrat own goal is what it is. Smart people see through it, and the dumb ones won't get it.
Ultimately, all it achieves is the further debasement of US political journalism by another notch. Which is why I focused my jaded ire upon the NYT and O'Dowd. They ought to know better. But like a lot of Democrats, they don't know better - they just think they do.
    Oh please....

Your just angry that McCains getting kicked in the teeth at the moment by the press, media and his own attempts at cute hoorism US style.

I think you're overstating this. It's not an own goal and in the current climate, this will be seen for what it is. However I do agree with your broader point. I'm for Obama but the news values in the NYT have been seriously biased for the campaign. The columnists have been nakedly pro-Obama, which does not really befit a newpaper of this stature. a bit of balance wouldn't go astray.

Why call on the NYT to show balance but not the right-wing media?

The NYT has always been a liberal, Democratic supporting newspaper.

Criticising it for being partisan is ridiculous.

Leo McGarry - where are you now that we need you?

The original plan for the final series was that the Republican candidate would win the Presedential election.
When John Spencer, the actor who played the Democratic VP candidate died, this was amended to have his west wing charachter die in the last few hours of polling on the night of the election.
The writers felt that for the Democratic Presedential candidate also to lose the election would be too sad for the audience and so they changed the story line.
Interestingly enough it all hinged on the state of Nevada.
If this years election proves to be a close one, many people expect Colarado to be the deciding state.

i thought this was a great piece. But as usual the P.ie'rs have to ruin it with nonsense. JC come on, it's only a bit of craic
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

In a WW episode where the President "accidentally" calls his re-election opponent stupid when the cameras are still live.

Last nights deliberate comment by Obama when McCain wanted to postpone the debate because of the economic crisis that the President has to be able to deal with lots of issues simulataneously was a great put-down on Marshall Maverick McCain.

Obama's ability is shining through and the financial crisis allows him to escape the Karl Rove agenda epitomised by the selection of Palin.

Obama should today suggest that the Friday night debate be changed to the economy.

Because the idea of American exceptionalism doesn’t extend to Americans being exceptional. If you excelled academically and are able to casually use 690 SAT words then you might as well have the press shoot video of you giving the finger to the Statue of Liberty while the Dixie Chicks sing the University of the Taliban fight song. The people who want English to be the official language of the United States are uncomfortable with their leaders being fluent in it.
    Priceless..

There is a distinct lack of satire on this election (mind you Doonesbury are doing a cool "Sarah Palin action figure" plot at the moment.

    We need more of this...
