McCain wants to postpone debate...how desperate can you get?

MSNBC are reporting McCain has requested that the Debates Commission postpone Friday nights debate to allow focus on economic crisis. Obviously Sarah Palin, "the best VP nominee in history" hasn't been enough of a game changer since he is now 9 points down so he needs a stunt like this. Or else he has lost his crib notes..

Or just maybe in the midst of the biggest economic crisis in the world since 1929 he actually wants to try and fix things or would you prefer that nothing is done????

Err ... he isn't the one actually fixing things, is he. I thought that was what the Treasury Secretary (and his boss - ) were supposed to be doing. Methinks that old-man McCain is running scared.

John small government McCain is a major part of the political class which created the problem, preventing adequate regulation of the the american financial world, now he is suddenly the solution, don't make me laugh. Call me cynical but this is politics and nothing but, foreign policy is supposedly his forte and the debate on foreign policy was going to be overshadowed by the economy, his poll numbers are going down the plughole and this is an attempt to change things. Obama can't really play it any way but agree and look like McCain's apprentice. Smart politics but politics it is

They are trying to fix it but the Democrats are playing politics and not actually proposing solutions...

Its called leadership - doing something that is for the best for the country ahead of your own benefit....

Clareman - There is more than enough regulation in the market already and the problem with regulation is that it is and only can be backward looking as it is nearly impossible to regulate for circumstances that haven't occured.....what is needed is an oversight role whereby its a sense checking required rather than a fill in forms etc...

To be fair I was being a bit facetious I don't think McCain is a major reason for the economic crisis but I do think he hasn't heloed a whole lot in 25+ years in the Senate. This is an interesting ploy and Obama's campaign so far has given mixed messages in responding, not good. It will be interesting to see how it plays out

By all means, let's put democracy on hold while we deal with a crisis.

Where have we all heard that before?

It has to pass both houses

Dubliner, he has not even read the rescue proposal yet, he said so himself yesterday, so clearly he does not have much of an interest in this.
    Stunt.
Also do we need two threads on this?
