palin dodges questions; americans "don't care"

"we" just don't care, you see:
A John McCain campaign aide tells Jay Carney that she sees no reason why Sarah Palin should have to answer reporters' queries:
According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy.

    could it be because...

Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."

Economists and analysts pounced on the misstatement, which came before the government had spent funds bailing the two entities out, saying it demonstrated a lack of understanding about one of the key economic issues likely to face the next administration.

"You would like to think that someone who is going to be vice president and conceivable president would know what Fannie and Freddie do," said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. "These are huge institutions and they are absolutely central to our country's mortgage debt. To not have a clue what they do doesn't speak well for her, I'd say."

Bloggers all over the place e.g. Andrew Sullivan picked up on the fact that she is refusing any ad hoc questions for next 2 weeks whilst she is "trained".

You couldn't make this up. The Reptilians are admitting that Palin knows nothing and are hiding her for 2 weeks while they empty her head of moose-stew and try to replace it with McCain's campaign programme. Priceless!

They can put the moose-stew into McCain's skull and raise the IQ of both simultaneously.

She has every right to choose when and where she will do any interviews. It would have been political suicide to do an interview while scumbags like Andrew Sullivan were propagating vicious rumors that she is not the mother of her youngest child. Nobody should have to defend themselves from such vicious personal attacks.

Let's not forget that there is such a thing as the Vice-Presidential Debate. Joe Biden (the much acclaimed 'expert' on foreign affairs who voted for the invasion of Iraq and against the surge) will get his chance to expose her weaknesses and her his.

Well they do both have to sing from the same hymn sheet. The Republicans tend to be better at presenting a unified front than the Democrats.

Oil-rich Alaskans might not care. A lot of other Americans might.

It is a novel approach to an election, hiding the candidate for a quarter of the campaign while the GOP behind-the-scsnes goon squad ground her in the basics. Certainly looking forward to the VP debate when the expert on foreign affairs goes head-to-head with the expert on moose-stew recipes.
