If the Democrats really thought that then why oh why are they not agitating to change the voting system? Why not have run off votes so the votes can transfer? They won't because it suits them the way it is.

There were a lot of reasons why Gore lost, not least of which was his failure to take his own state. If he had done that he would be President today probably.

In Florida there was the rigging of the electoral role by Jeb Bush. If anything cost Gore the election it was that. Now how did that come to light, because people other than the Democrats pursued it. So what did the Democrats do? Not a lot.

While we are at it and the illegal war in Iraq, why does Nancy Pelosi oppose impeaching Bush. The Democrats have a majority in Congress, and Republicans do not hold a majority in the Senate. Gives you some idea just how much the Democrats really care.

The 2000 election has been gone over and over elsewhere. Gore and the Democrats lost that election amen. They have nobody to blame but theselves.

A left wing candidate cost Gore in 2000 and possibly Kerry in 2004, so Obama must hope he has a big enough lead for a left wing candidate not to impact him which I think if those dumb supporters who keep backing Nadar had the sense not to go with Nadar this time shouldn't. Even so Obama is looking like having a big enough lead that a third candidate shouldn't make a difference.
If democrats had an ounce of decency they would all vote Nader
Perhaps you are right but Nadar voters must have learned by now that (a) voting Nadar is a waste of a good vote because he will never get into the White House and (b) voting Nadar usuallly delivers the White House to the Republicans.

Weren't the Republicans trying their best to get Nadar into the race in 2004? They know he draws votes away from the democrats. I hope he has the cop not to run this time. If it wasn't for him Gore would have been elected and we know for certain there would have been no Iraq war and perhaps no 9/11. If Nadar had any decency he would stay out of the race and allow a true alternative to the Republicans, ie the Democrats win.
How in Gods name can you even think to claim there would perhaps have been no 9/11????
Why would there have been no Iraq war? Wasn't it under the Democrats that American invaded Haiti in 94, Iraq in 98, didn't they go into Somalia in 93 and walk out after a few casualities.., didn't they attack Sudan/Afganistan in 98 also....

You make it sound like that the votes of those who voted for Nader belonged to Gore. Maybe those people wouldn't have even voted at all if Nader hadn't run? They seem to me like a group of people heavily disillusioned with the two main parties. It could be said that they were doing a service for the leftist side of the Democratic party, if people are thinking as you are maybe Democratic insiders and powerbrokers will be forced to sit up and ask 'Maybe we are too right wing to attract those votes', and if they ask this honest intelligent question they can follow it up with 'If we want to attract those votes we need to get more left wing'. If after asking this question they decide it's not worth it to do that then don't cry when those votes say bye bye, when they give the Republicans an easy ride while they (the Dems) are supposed to be the party of opposition, supporting practically every move Bush makes and refuse to drop an unpopular headcase like J Liebermann - they are going to scare away some people. The political psychology you are reflecting is based on the politics of negativity and fear, it's not vote for who you believe in it's vote against who you fear most.
