She was very impressive. I half expected her to say that she had confronted an establishment which thought of her as just a woman in tennis shoes. So that's women onboard.

I notice the look on McCain's face while she was giving her speech - he looked like a man who went fishing for mackrel and caugh a salmon.

One thing is for sure, the base of the Republican Party will been wrapped up and energise for McCain by Palin.

Well, if they play it in terms that you just did (and I don't think the republicans are remotely that stupid) "and still did not have a abortion" as if a child with a disability would be an easy reason to have a termination then they would be kissing the votes of everyone with a disabled family member goodbye along with all the pro-choice independents.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

In trying to balance McCains weaknesses, she simply serves to highlight all the things McCain isn't.
Yep ... this is very risky. If a voter was wavering, thinking about McCain ... well given his age they're gonna want to know about his Veep ... McCain could die in office. Also even if he doesn't voters are aware that they're picking the next GOP candidate for president (assuming the Veep is under say 65).

This puts a lot of interest on the McCain Veep ... if they are not a "known quantity" then that thirst for information is not satisified. It is not clear to me how, over the next 2 months, she'll get exposed enough.

This of course assumes that she is strong and the exposure will do good - but she is relatively untested.

Also saying she is ready to be President (and better be very ready given his age) really diminishes argument of "inexperience" against Obama.

    Time hasbest summary so far.

Methinks McCain has taken a roll of the dice here ... his Veep choice will either be very good or very bad ... though not in the middle.

Daring but good choice by McCain. She's a social conservative compensating for McCain with more conservative voters. She adds youth and glamour to the ticket. She has (albeit limited) governorial experience which is unique on this year's ticket but she is amazingly popular in her home state.

Also unlike the the leader of the sisterhood of the travelling pantsuits, she hasn't coat-tailed on her husband's name to succeeed (or in HC's case, fail).
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

Interesting choice - might swing a chunk of the Sisterhood to vote for the Republicans seeing as Hills is out of race alltogether now....

Also while she has spent a limited time as a Governor at least she has some executive experience unlike Obama.

+ She just hasn't been in the role long enough to have stored too many skeletons in the cupboard either.

That was my reaction too when I read YukonTom. I doubt there's many families that don't have or know someone with a disability - that kind of argument would leave a very sour taste.
