    Real John McCain?

I'm not a big fan of McCain - he comes across as a warmonger, bush-wanabe. But I've been watching the 2005 documentary "Why We Fight" and McCain pops up as a talking head making very good and progressive comments about the military industrial complex and the need to cut spending on the war machine. He also calls for a full investigation of Cheney's connection to Haliburton and war contracts.

Which McCain is running for President?

The one who doesn't subscribe to the war profiteers but after 2000 understands its better to get into the tents to throw the Frackers out as unless you get in then nothing happens.

He'll say anything to get into Office.. clearly.

Here are some apt examples of his flipflopping, very bush-esque.

    Ohio Rasmussen poll:
    McCain 45%
    Obama 44%

McCain is viewed favorably by 53% of Buckeye State voters, Obama by 47%. For McCain, that figure is unchanged over the past month while Obama’s favorable rating has dropped three points.

While it is unlikely that Clinton will win the Democratic Presidential nomination, she does outperform Obama in Ohio. She leads McCain 50% to 43% and is supported by 83% of the state’s Democratic voters (compared to 65% for Obama). Clinton has a significant lead over McCain among Ohio voters who earn less than $60,000 annually.
52% have an unfavourable view of Obama, to 45% for McCain and just 46% for Clinton.

In an ideal world, I'd like Obama to win, but I don't think he'll be allowed to change anything if he gets in. Theres no money left to fund his plans - Bush has made sure of it.

So, probably better if McCain gets in and continues Bush's policies. Four more years of that and we won't be an America to bother us any more.

Which ever one can get elected.

To quote Machivelli, "Princes who have done great things have taken little account of their promises.". That was true before modern democracy and the leaders it creates were even born.

They are only up to date as of yesterday and therefore do not really take account of this poll but here you go:

    Obama vs McCain

    Obama 276
    McCain 262
    '

    Clinton vs McCain

    Clinton 294
    McCain 244

As you can see, Clinton does loads better than Obama, carrying 3 Southern states (West Virginia, Florida and Arkansas) and carrying Ohio.

I still expect McCain to win against Obama, because historically, the winners of Missouri and/or Ohio win the presidency.
