Bill Richardson endorses Obama, Richardson to be VP ?

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, the most senior Hispanic politician in the United States, today endorsed Barack Obama.

Whilst the endorsement would have been infinitely more valuable three weeks ago (before Texas and its sizable Hispanic population went to the polls), Obama will nonetheless be hugely grateful for such a show of support in this, the darkest hour of his political career. Richardson will now undoubtedly be talked about as a possible running mate for Obama in the fall should the Illinois senator secure the Democratic nomination.

The question is, considering the current racial nature of the political debate, would the Democrats risk having a black and an Hispanic (albeit one with an Anglo name) on the presidential ticket ?

Risk? what would be the risk?

Hes AT least in the top 3 for VP it solves his Latino problem, and you would have someone on the ticket with vast executive experience and tonnes of diplomatic creds.

    Ha ha
    Laughable stuff.
    "his darkest political hour".
What, a 160 delegate lead and a 1/4 favourite for the nomination!

If this is his darkest political hour, I cant wait for when things get better for him.

Richardson nomination is an absolute dagger to the Clintons.
Aside from Gore, this endorsement is the biggest prize of all especially for Obama and his underperformance with Hispanics to date.
Game now nearly up for Clintons.
Edwards and Gore can now probably finish it once and for all but I doubt the craven coward Gore has become has it in him to even say boo to the Clintons.

Glad to see Bill Richardson make the right endorsement.
I am fed up with people saying Obama has no experience - JFK had little and he was one of the best President's there were. Experience in the White House does not mean they will make a good POTUS - Nixon for example!
Not since Kennedy has America have the opportunity to vote in a new and fresh change - young, dynamic who will restore America's position in the world. People often complaint about politics and how it is always the same old people with the same old stroy - well i urge all Americans - u have an alternative to that in Obama - it is time for real and fresh change - not a man who will be a 1 termer and not a woman who will simplsy been doing her husbands third term which the constitution wont permit him to do himself.
Do no blow the best political opprtunity you have to reshape and breathe fresh life into your country in a long time

To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen famous rebuke to Dan Quayle, "Senator Obama you're no Jack Kennedy".

Just the same way that Obama is only half-black, so logically speaking is white as well. Most Americans have a "one drop" attitude to race, tho.

Reading an article in the Irish Times today it said that Hillary Clinton is unlikely to beat Obama. Is this true?

What was so great about JFK? Was Nixon really that bad?
