They got one. But both sides of the establishment were gunning for him from the start, because they don't want outsiders eating their lavish taxpayer funded lunch. Most still are.

They've been ready since the days of Ross Perot but the political duopoly in the US is too strong - it's what convinced Trump in 2000 that they one way to go was as a Republican or Democrat.

Sometimes in politics the tide seems to go with a certain type of candidate.

Eg after Mary Robinson won in 1990 all the political parties decided that they wanted a woman to run in 1997.

It may be the case that the Democrats think they can only win if they run a celebrity.

Oprah beats Trump by 10 points in Rasmussen poll - take with a grain of salt but she'll no doubt be encouraged.

Remember, when it comes to climate change and immigration, watching what liberals do is more important than listening to what they say. Obama seems to have done a hell of a lot of flying since leaving office, Chelsea uses a private jet as well.

And Oprah? Well of course she owns a private jet.

I wonder how the liberals lecturing us on climate change at every opportunity will spin this one if she runs for President.

The only reason this nonsense has arisen is because to all intents and purposes Oprah Winfrey has become the acceptable face of ethnic minority in the US.

She's been on TV, she's wealthy, and she looks like she doesn't need to steal the silver if she came to dinner. Same things really that propelled Obama into the presidency.

We live in an age where presidential candidates and senior politicians have to be different to the people they hope will vote for them the most.

And no one since the 1950s has ever been elected to the White House without funding from the top three or four investment banks and they won't tolerate a candidate who isn't sufficiently and overtly an Uncle Tom if they are visibly from a minority.

America isn't really a democracy. The college system for selecting the President is farcical. The Candidacy is decided by big money.

The US is a democracy in the same way Ireland is a Republic.
