IMO, it kicked off with Regan (and Thatcher at this side of the pond) and it has worsened since then. I believe that POTUS is now a puppet for the super wealthy who support/pay for their campaigns. What POTUS is going to implement policies that hit the very people who contribute millions to their campaign/party?

Historically society was made up of the poor, the middle class and the wealthy. Now it is morphing into the very poor, the struggling poor and the super wealthy.

    It will all end badly

Yeah - this was a noble effort by Veritas to simultaneously discredit the Washington Post and rehabilitate the reputation of serial paedophile Roy Moore.

    That's God's own work they're doing.

Haven't followed that story much but "serial paedophile?" Has he been charged with that? Convicted?

This effort was to plant a fake story about Republican Senatorial candidate Roy Moore of Alabama, in the Washington Post. The Post had previously published accounts of women who accused Moore of making sexual approaches to them when they under 16 and he over 30.

The modus operandi is obvious. Plant a fake "Moore accuser" who would subsequently retract her story, and then say she was offered money to play a role. Hey presto! All Moore's accusers could be smeared as liars, and he would be guaranteed election.

However, the Post's investigation rang alarm bells about the latest "accuser".

"The conservative group Project Veritas and its controversial founder, James O’Keefe, apparently wanted to help cast doubt on the women’s stories. The group targets media and left-leaning organizations by secretly filming them. In 2010, O’Keefe pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor after a ploy in which two men posed as telephone repairmen and tried to enter the office of then-Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA)."

More of O'Keefe's concoctions surfaced here during the last election, and were of course purveyed by the usual right-wing hysteriacs.

A conservative group tried to plant a fake Roy Moore allegation in the Washington Post. It failed.
A woman said Moore got her pregnant at 15. Her story unraveled under scrutiny.

What James O'Keefe doesn't get about the media - CNNPolitics

The story is a another "fake news" warning. And, bad and all as the "MSM" are, they may be better than many who criticise them.
This post explains an age old counterintelligence tool called "vacine misinformstion". It is only effective where (party a) knows a true story is about to break in the community or wider media. The true story could be (party a) has been stealing money from the church collection box. ( Party a) pays someone to put out a rumour that (party a) stole money from her piggy bank, or out of her car or from a local shop. (Party a) then "forces" his friend to put an add in the paper exonerating him from any wrong doing. This creates sympathy for (party a who) so that when the real story breaks , no one believes it.

The public is vacinated against any more bad information.

Unless the woman who make the false allegation admits it, it cannot ever be proved if Roy did or did not do wrong

I recall you rationalising your move away from reading "MSM" to the fringes because you couldn't trust it- I think you will need to look elsewhere than Project Veritas for a trustworthy news source in future- would you agree?

No way-they continue to do an exemplary job in exposing pernicious Liberal bias in the MSM
