About as much as Obama's speech to Wall Street bankers does.

The U1 deal had to get past nine seperate agencies and not one ounce of uranium could be exported. As a case it's about as water tight as my colander.

The brief was not to investigate Trump, it was to investigate the campaign.

    2. It assumes the justice dept will investigate to even things out. They won’t. If there’s evidence they’ll investigate. As they should.

Now I would say: Sessions language makes this look like it’s not going anywhere. He’s not asking because he’s got suspicions. He’s asking because lawmakers have asked him to ask. But if there’s evidence to open an investigation, Justice are the ones to handle it.
I agree, Sessions knows this will get nowhere, and if it did, little or no chance of a different outcome than that reached by the FBI in 2016
In fact Rep Luis Gutierrez questioning was largely goading Session's on the matter

"Your boss said in the second debate he was going to contact his AG and get him to prosecute Hillary Clinton.
Well, are you going to do it or not, he has certainly prodded you a few times to do it"?

Sessions squirmed, the point being made by the Congressman was that it was Trump running the DOJ

Clinton will not be prosecuted, let alone jailed.

In Trump's shoes I'd allow the process to commence and at some point really piss of HRC by issuing a preemptive pardon.

It would have the advantage of looking magnanimous while annoying HRC greatly.

It would also make it easier to issue any pardons required as a result of Mueller. It would depoliticise the pardon process to some small extent.

You also were convinced that HRC was going to be POTUS. How did that work out?
