    American Civil War, part 2?

More and more I'm hearing of the possibility that the US is heading irreversibly towards a civil war:

Is America Heading for a Civil War? - Quillette

And there are many many more now actually talking about the possibility. Certainly Trump isn't helping matters, although some see Bannon's removal as being a step away from the far right.
To me, having visited the US multiple times, as late as earlier this year, I find it hard to believe that it could actually come to this.
There are divisions, plenty of them, there is huge poverty in the US, political extremes, race tensions etc... If a civil war was to happen, what would be the implications for the rest of the world? For Ireland?
I honestly don't see it happening, but maybe people in the US are frustrated with everything and maybe their leaders are sleep walking into one.
What do you think? Could it happen?

Now it's clear why Putin helped Trump. It fits right into his geopolitical agenda.

Strange that this OP appeared just as I was reading an article by Colbert I. King, a respected public servant and commentator in the Washington Post. He references some of the articles the OP lists and concludes that there's an agenda at work. Well worth a read.
