    Your preferences for US President (out of three)

    There is lots of strong debate on this site between Clinton backers and Obama backers. Now that it is virtually certain McCain will be the choice for the GOP, I want to see would these people back McCain ahead of their least favourite Dem candidate.

    So please state your candidates in order of preference and (in brief) why.

    For me;

    1. Obama- I like most of his policies and he can inspire people (a rare and valuable commodity in politics)

    2. Clinton- I like her policies too, but I think her divisive style of politics could do harm

    3. McCain- though I'd prefer him to most Republicans he is too much of a hawk for me and most likely out of the three to invade more countries

    1. Clinton - because of my bias towards most liberal causes and because of her husbands involvement in the NI peace process.

    2. Obama - again because by US standards I am a liberal

    3. McCain - because I oppose the war in Iraq and the Republicans are even more biased towards Israel than the Dems. But I also like him a lot more than Bush because he is interested in Global Warming and the ICC.

    My heart says Obama, but my head says McCain. I can't even bring myself to hate Hillary, she just leaves me cold (Bill though, at least he had charisma).

    Bush has taught us that it matters who's behind you as well. If Obama gets the right team together then he might be a very good president. Let them cover the actual policies.

    McCain sounds alright, but I dislike his hawkishness. I can only hope that the American public are sick of fruitless war and if he were to acknowledge this then he would be a pretty good president. His age isn't a factor for me.

    I havent posted on this site in 8 months but Barack Obama has inspired me. Maybe it is all a load of hot air. I hope we find out and he gets his chance in the White House.

    I have never been so inspired by a politician.

    1) Clinton - like her policies and see some substance to what she is saying

    2) Obama - new, fresh and all that.... big problem is that his entire speeches are spin and rhetoric - but he gets away with it. He says things like he wants change and a better way and is in favour of various ideals but he doesn't actually spell out what exactly he will do to achieve these ideals

    3) McCain - close call between him and the puff of smoke for second place. I know this will appear terrible but I don't think he's up to it physically and mentally. He will be 72 before he takes office. He is (through no fault of his own) a very old and physically weary 72 year old man. He's a hero and all of that - no question but I just think he's too old. And if/when it becomes too much then we could revert back to the Bush problem where the country is not run by the president but instead it's driven by the input from the guys around him.

    To be clear - I'm not ruling McCain out completely because of age/capability issue - I just rate him below Obama because of the age/capability issue

    terribly non-PC I know !
