I agree, but the reality is he is harassed, attacked, threatened, imprisoned, bullied and hounded.

I know many will say, 'fuxx him', but the consequence of allowing a few people to be persecuted for their beliefs is the persecution is seen as an allowed tactic and spreads.

So an innocent non-violent writer is allowed by society to be persecuted because 'nobody likes him anyway ' and the persecution spreads.

Free speech means that people are entitled to protest against speakers that they don't like. Yiannopoulus is a psychopathic jerk who sets trolls on people so its inevitable that people will object to him.

As for the violence it seems it was started by a tiny anarchist group. Unfortunately the student protestors have to learn what all young leftists have to learn eventually that 'there are no enemies on the left' is a canard. There are certain groups that will ruin a movement. Hopefully some of the student leaders will twig that such groups damage forward momentum (unintentional pun there) and give the right a strawman to attack. Militant was a gift for the tabloids and the Tories. Granted even if the left do everything perfectly the right will find an excuse to twist it out of proportion as they with 'Blue Lives Matter' red herring. Jesus, I becoming more 'Blairite' by the day.

Milo in my opinion is a scumbag. However that can't justify this violence in any way.

Respect for the rule of law seems to be dying by the day.

Violent protest is hardly a marker for "snowflakes".

Free Speech has to actively defended; it cannot be taken for granted. Unfortunately, some of the attacks on it come from my side of the political spectrum. I deplore that with vigour.

I think the biggest attacks on it in the UK were a key part of Blairism. He quite deliberately abandoned traditional Labour philosophy in regard to free speech.

US parties are as left wing as the electorate want , same as here.
The US is a conservative country (economically at least) which is why the Republicans are normally around 50% in elections.

View from over-head, gives an idea of the scale of the protest:

Fires set, windows smashed, molotov cocktails thrown.

Campus spokesperson saying highly organised violent protesters using paramilitary tactics.

Why not? Those who suffer from over sensitivity are in my experience most prone to violence.
