Thomas Hardiman, a 51-year-old judge who sits on the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Pittsburgh is emerging as a favourite.

He has not attended either Harvard or Yale which is seen as a bonus with some conservatives plus he sat on the same court as Trumps sister who was also a Federal Judge.

    Seems like an alright guy.

Still the liberal butthurt over a Ted Cruz nominee would a joy to behold.

Not half as rough as those with legitimate visas and green cards who were turned back at the airport.

Hence my use of quotation marks for rough and the thrust of my point.

Once the Supreme Court nominee is announced tomorrow night, all eyes will be on him/her and your heart can stop bleeding for Donald.

CNN says Dems considering letting Trump judge through and keeping powder dry for the next vacancy. Gorsuch mentioned as someone they might be able to live with.

I don't think the Dems will overshoot this one. At the end of the day, this is a replacement for Scalia and won't upset the balance of the Court but I think for future SC vacancies the Dems may take a different approach.

Recent Presidents have an average of one SCOTUS nomination per term. When Obama took office it was expected that he would get 1-3 nominations over 2 terms. He ended up with 3, one unfilled which now goes to the GOP. Many insiders anticipate that Trump could get 1-3 nominations in just one term, including the Scalia vacancy.

It makes some sense for the Dems to hold their fire on this nomination, however given the Senate map for 2018 and the likely GOP pickups, this may be their best chance to block a SCOTUS nominee.
