    Kennedy endorses Obama.

Ted Kennedy has just endorsed Barack Obama as his preferred candidate for the Democratic Presidential Nomination.

Payback time for the Clintons ousting of the Kennedy clan from their former position as the First Family of the Democratic Party.

Obama has just given Karl Rove and the Swiftboat brigade another big boon.

Kennedy could end up looking like a fool, and making very powerful enemies, if he has backed the wrong horse (just like Gore did in 2004)

Perhaps he has some sense of democracy and doesn't want to see America descend into an Oligarchy. But then again, perhaps not.

    Humm!

    My cynical mind rumbles.

Will teddy be getting himself a well earned elder states man role in the Obama administration. I doubt that there is much too this other than Teddy thinks that Obama is the right man for the job. I doubt that he will be doing much canvasing for him outside of his home state in the general.

It would be a bit rich, a Kennnedy complaining about dynasties.

Very interesting - could be the kiss of Death for Obama - if there is any family Republican America hates and reveils more than the Clintons - its the Kennedys and Ted "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy more than any.

Its going to be a fair old ding dong between Hillary and Barack - this will tell us a lot about the Democrats

Obama is picking up the lefty liberal side of the Democratic Party and it could be enough to win the nomination in the Dem heartlands - however all the gains that the Dems made in 2006 were in centre right areas - and had centre right moderate candidates - and these will be needed to win the presidency.

If Obama wins the nomination - I've got a bad feeling it will be George McGovern 1972 all over again - He pressed all the touchy feely buttons that impress the left side of the Democratic party, the intellectual elite and us Europeans and the European left - but will leave most Americans distinctly unimpressed when it comes down to making a choice - Obama is getting a damn easy ride from the Media and the Republicans are holding their fire to see if he can eliminate the most dangerous candidate - Clinton - if he does - he will be destroyed by the republicans - particularly if McCain wins the nomination.

The USA is not Europe and never will be and there is no point pretending otherwise. The kennedys are a soap opera now - not a serious political force.

I dont go so far as to see a McCain rout of Obama.
I think McCains age could become an issue, especially when compared with a youthful and energetic Obama. We all know how important image is to presidential campaigns.
On everything else, however, I agree with you 100%.

Hes got more moderate republican support than any other democratic contender, even praised Ronald Reagan's ability to be a transformative president (thought not WHAT he transformed).
He was critical of the one complaint Republicans have about Hillarys health insurance plan, that it's mandatory.

The kinda die hard republicans who hate Kennedy and think Hillary killed vice foster and Bill was a drug dealer aint voting democratic anyway.

Nor does he need them to win, he just needs ONE more state than Kerry won and hes in, and hes a far more charasmatic candidate than Kerry was, unlike Kerry actually knows what he stands for, and unlike the rest is not tainted by the war
