He has a point that even Ben Bernake agrees with:

Fed chairman Ben Benanke says U.S. debt

It is in the nature of self severing politicians to borrow from those who follow them. Obama's 'Stat of the Union' was reminiscent of one of Brain Cowan's budget day speeches - Money for everyone (who will vote for me). Time to Wake up America indeed.

I agree, I think the real issue is that some disagree with his point. sure he isn't the next Monet but the message has people talking.

Such is the beauty of p.ie - you don't have to have the vaguest clue on a topic to offer your two cents worth. Gotta love free speech, no?

His painting has Jesus holding the US Constitution, which pointedly does not mention God and explicitly separates Church and State. And is that Thomas Jefferson behind Jesus?? The same Thomas Jefferson who was the author of the Establishment clause and, as Hitchens (pbuh) was fond of reminding us, of the Virginia Statue on Religious Freedom? Sheesh.

And Jesus in the painting is what Tommy Tiernan once referred to as "the Bee Gee Jesus". Tiernan added, Jesus more likely looked like Danny DeVito.

Can you show where the Constitution states that religion and state are to be seperated ? I will save you the time, it doesn't.

We do have an "Establishment" clause, which derived from the early colonist aversion to Britain telling them what church they should align with. Britian had an official church. Thus the establishment clause states:

The establishment clause has generally been interpreted to prohibit 1) the establishment of a national religion by Congress, or 2) the preference by the U.S. government of one religion over another. The first approach is called the "separation" or "no aid" interpretation, while the second approach is called the "non-preferential" or "accommodation" interpretation. The accommodation interpretation prohibits Congress from preferring one religion over another, but does not prohibit the government's entry into religious domain to make accommodations in order to achieve the purposes of the Free Exercise Clause.

Remember every President in US history has sworn an oath on the Bible. Our money states "In God we trust" So to say we have a seperation of church and state is disingenuous.

The subleties are unbelievable. It is night time, the US flag over the white house is flying at half staff, money all over the ground, a few of the recent democratic Presidents (excluding Kennedy) applauding and the scene contains only recent or well known Presidents at the front.

A superb piece of artistry if only for its thought provoking nature, regardless of ones political affiliations.

    The piece is obviously satire.
Ronald Reagan giving a s**t about the unemployed?
    What a joke.
Not to mention all those freaky guys in wigs.
Slave owners the lot of them.
