Sure.

Is it too much to ask that you would either give your opinion of the vote outcome or else just avoid the thread.

I will put you down as one who believes Obama has a big victory Sunday

The HC debate has been puzzling for us on this side of the Atlantic. Why would any civilised country want to continue with a system that bankrupts and kills their own citizens? Well finally we have the answers. Thanks to tea party protestors at the latest Washington DC rally it's all become clear - as mud.

Whip Count 3-20-10: 202 Yes, 214 No (Updated)
Since my last count yesterday, Pelosi got Sanford Bishop, Scott Murphy, Suzanne Kosmas, Brad Ellsworth, Allen Boyd, Tom Perriello, Dina Titus and John Boccieri. (Harry Mitchell announced again, but I already counted him in the "yes" group.)

She lost Jason Altmire, John Barrow, Lincoln Davis (officially; he was already headed that way), Peter DeFazio (a surprise from "yes" to "no"), Heath Shuler, and Harry Teague.

So Nancy has 199 "definitely voting yes" congresscritters. She is 17 short of the magic number. There are 214 publicly declared "no" votes. There are 18 undecided/undeclared congressmen left (including Cuellar):

I think he'll get the votes, mostly because he seems too clever to attempt this without knowing it's in the bag (not that one would need to be especially clever to realise that it's probably not a good idea to risk losing in such circumstances).

I'm not so sure about that. He's extending himself significantly to try and buy votes for the bill. It's very close and Pelosi is under pressure.

Not hard to puzzle you is it? You think a video solves this complex debate, sums up your knowledge of the whole debate. Would you really like to see a giant HSE style bureaucracy created? One that is dedicated to it's own self preservation rather than providing care. Then we will see people dying because of lack of care.

Private companies are dedicated to their own preservation (and profit) as opposed to providing care. If you do geniunely live in the USA you must know of middle class families that have gone broke through one of their members getting ill. People dont die from a lack of care in Ireland and neither do they in the UK on a regular basis. The same cannot be said for the USA...Dont try to wrap this up in morality.

It seems that an executive order on abortion rights may now be what is deemed necessary to bully the bill though.
