    Retina?
    Rod?
    Restaurant?
    Rest-room?
    Rely?

So many words which start with "R", which to choose.

And for an example of same, here goes:
What is with this banning of R-word, F-word, D-word, C-word, alphabetti-spagetti-word? "Oh, you mustn't use the C-word." What bloody C-word? Cleft, Cliff? Want to walk over the edge of that C-word?

I'm presuming this is about banning the word "retard" as I couldn't bother my prats to look at the links. As someone else said already, ban one word that is used as a derogatory and another will take its place. Ban that and another takes its place, etc, etc, until we have no words left to speak.
    Back to grunts, I guess.

Well considering kids now point and laugh at eachother and shout 'special needs, special needs', I sometimes wonder will English have any words left in order to describe people born with various challenges.

Well 'wee dafty' is a legally accepted term for a special needs person, in Ulster Scots.

Ban that and you will get people shouting about discrimination, against the people using the word!

Why do Yanks have to "pledge" every single little thing?

By the way, is this a campaign to have a legal ban imposed on the use of the word or a campaign to persuade people to choose not to use it? There's an important difference that others seem to overlook here.

If it's the latter, then I'm all for it tbh.

See. The word actually has a good descriptive use. Eliminating it from the English language makes us all poorer.

Hate to break it to you but this campaign is not being organised solely on your behalf, and just because it doesn't bother you doesn't mean it doesn't bother others. So get over yourself princess.

You'd want to produce some fairly clear evidence that anyone wants to eliminate its use from the English language if that statement is to mean anything.

What has Sarah Palin got against Risteard? The TV appearances were a bit off, but he's no George Clooney after all!
