The silence is really weird. Like, I know these are conservative activists doing the sting, but ignoring a story of such interest doesn't do them any favours.

You lost me here. This appears to be about 8 low-level staff (so far) in a very large organisation acting in a way that appears to be both stupid and immoral. That's a long, long way from Watergate.

Na, Bill Clinton used Halliburton extensively. I figured that if they were good enough for democrats at the time, they were good enough for republicans.

Who else does what Halliburton does in the most dangerous parts of the world?

Really? When did Clinton award billions in no bid contracts to a company charged with those sorts of things? Also, who in his administration had been a member of and continued to have ties with the board of that company?

Also, did he largely base his energy policy on a company for which he had served on the board, and used as a private sector army in an energy rich part of the world?

Smells fishy.. I know you guys see lies everywhere.. isn't this hard for you to take as coincidence, or is it only certain stories not adding up that bother you?

Lads, this ain't about Halliburton: this is about a group that conservative attacks dogs have been trying to both link to Obama and take down for some time. Now its employees have been caught advocating and advising really dubious things, while Acorn's own statement on the matter - [url=http://www.acorn.org/index.php?id=12439&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=22581&tx_ttnews[backPid]=12387&cHash=bb5331a517] - is both unapologetic and hilariously self regarding.

Left leaning journalists are doing the progressive cause no favours by ignoring this story.

Happy with Obama then ? I heard that the military budget had been increased by 4%. Is that just another dirty rumour ?

I understand Megan Kelly over at Foxy News is soon coming up with an expose on ACORN. I understand the problems aren’t just low level personnel, but go all the way to the upper echelon. I also understand the top at ACORN will also admit it. Waiting with bated breath.

Is ACRON heavily funded by George Soros... which "helped" Obama take the White House????

And wasn't ACORN accused of buying votes with crack cocaine??

Source? If this is true, I'd be keen to watch it...

Or I could get into all the right wing lobbyists who have supported republicans and air their dirty laundry.

The point is it wouldn't be furthering a rational discussion about policy to focus discussion on the fringe, but if you want to find scandalous elements like this for the other side, I can oblige you; they're pretty ugly.

And before you say, why go into the past? I'll remind you that the right seems to all of a sudden be concerned with ethics; the ethical gymnastics of the last administration didn't seem to trouble anyone, so I'm having a hard time understanding when all these people grew consciences.
Hang on a minute YoungNed - a retraction's in order. I've consistently posted on this and other fora and dragged my sorry ass on demonstrations and pickets against all the "scandalous elements" of the previous adminstration.

Your logic seems to be that because some Republican crazies are outraged by Obama, that means he's perfect.

Why would you respond to criticism of Obama by "finding scandalous elements on the other side" ? Why not just deal with the criticism ?

It seems to be a common tactic from Obama supporters. Perhaps you've just picked up the habit from the Obama websites.

From where I'm sitting Obama is continuing the same foreign policy as Bush, in fact extending it and increasing military expenditure.

Personally, I think these community groups are an establishment scam to lead the working class up endless cul-de-sacs without changing a thing.
