Deputy Paul Murphy off to a poor start?

I congratulated Mr Murphy on winning that seat, I've always thought him hardworking and articulate. However, the demonstration in Tallaght was not a peaceful protest, despite what Deputy Murphy claims. The footage showing the Táinste being water bombed was disgraceful. As was the fact that Senator Katherine Zappone was spat on.

There are also allegations that the Gardaí were taunted with homophobic and misogynistic remarks during this water chargers protest.

And the mature students who graduated from An Cósan higher education college certainly deserved more respect from their elected representative.

A poor start to his career as a Dáil TD?

    1) Evidence?

    2) Evidence?

    3) The graduates were applauded by protesters (video evidence), and some graduates even joined in on the protest while wearing cap and gown (photo evidence).

No. Like the other TDs, his first job is to be re-elected. Like all other TDs he looks after his vote first.

One person (with a few sidekicks), who is basically a parachute candidate (Credit where due, he leveraged the seat out from SF's nose, - more of that later...) cannot hope to run a well orchestrated, controlled piece of street theater without it descending into a thug-fest.

Assembling a crowd and then controlling said crowd in an area like this is never going to work.

Even SF would not attempt this with their grass roots network and discipline.

Paul was very jittery on the news yesterday, he has realised that street fighting is very different than being co-opted to the European parliament as a nice young lad from Goatstown . If only the yard in St Killians was a bit rougher, then maybe he might have had an inkling as to what he was getting into.

RBB, MLM and Paul M, continuing the long tradition of posing with the unwashed....

I didn't ask for evidence about the water balloon. That was a silly thing to do, more than likely by some teenager who wasn't part of the real protest. Though perspective here, 6 year old kids play with water balloons, it's hardly a very dangerous object.

Is there any evidence of ''homophobic and misogynistic remarks'' against Gardaí?

Is there any video/photographic evidence of Zappone who was surrounded by Gardaí at all times throughout the videos being ''spat on''? Bear in mind that not one single person has been charged with any offence relating to the Burton protest. Katherine Zappone was recommended for the Seanad by Gilmore and Labour, so that must be taken into account, also the lack of video/photographic evidence.

Paul Murphy didn't organise the protest.

He's come across like a patriot who cares deeply about the working people of his area and this nation. A great start imo.

Listening to Zappone telling how she was spat upon in not evidence, it's heresay!

As for Joan - why do these despised politicians need to attend these functions? It is about the students and their achievement. The TDs are grandstanding and display, in this case, an arrogance that is beyond belief!

Perhaps if t he went about the business of running the country, a task for which they were elected, these things wouldn't flare up!

"Our betters" do no seem to understand the hatred of people who feel they have been cheated and lied to. We have already seen Enda smirking ...
