“Every country has the government it deserves.”

Tory boy listens to economists BBC News - Top 50p tax rate damages UK, say economists and the Labour Party Time to think again about the 50% tax rate? and decides a temporary tax rate should be temporary. Really all he's doing is planning on honouring Labour's commitment.
The public always liked it, but Labour never got economists onside, and they never really got their own economic experts into it either, including Darling himself and Byers. It was a sticking plaster measure which, like all plasters, would start to rot if left on too long.
The 50% was never going to be permanent, it's only a question now if it's an appropriate time to roll it back.
If you're the first out the door, that's not called panicking.
Osbourne has no intention of repealing it, its pretty clear from what he said that his hands are tied on the issue, you are incorrect in your assessment here.
Oh and incidentally taxes tend to stick, the 50% tax rate isn't changing anytime soon. It has boosted revenue and the UK is broke, it cant afford to change the tax policy regardless of what 20 bought and paid for economists say on behalf of the wealthy.
Voters don't decide issues, they decide who will decide issues.

I'm shocked that so many posters on a political forum actually believe a politician's claim about a tax being temporary when every tax starts out as a temporary measure.
