Tribunal Abusing its Authority - FF Chair

While speaking on a local radio station today the Chairman of the Fianna Fail Parliamentary Party Seamus Kirk TD has accused the Mahon Tribunal of ‘abusing the authority they were given ‘.

This surely is a new low for FF and goes far beyond what has been previously said. It is a serious charge that Kirk makes and needs to be answered by their partners in Government. Do the Green Party and in particular Minister Gormley who has responsibility for the Tribunal agree that the Tribunal is ‘ abusing’ its authority.
    What do the PDs think?

The remarks were made on LMFM Loose talk.

What did you expect? For FF to act on corruption?

    FF should be disbanded.

Politicans should not really be commenting on the actions of a Tribunal, the judiciary is supposed to be beyond political influence in a republic

somebody should compile a book of all the anti-tribunal remarks made by FF types over the course of Mr Ahern's travails over the last year

Every time Willie O'Dea, Dermot Ahern or any other muppet open their mouth from now on, they should have their nonsensical remarks stuffed back down their throats

If we had a civil honours system here, Judge Mahon and his team should get the highest awards going - tip of the hat to them.

I previously had huge respect for Kirk as being from the (increasingly small) honest and decent side of FF. However, these comments are worrying.

It is obvious to me now that Ahern is a cancer in Irish politics.

When FF don't like what they are hearing they attack the messenger, not the message.

God love the FF Press Office if Kirk is the most senior ranker (pronounced as Jonathan Woss might) that was willing to appear.

More bull************************ in an attempt to quell the stories which emanited from the Tribunal yesterday.

If Ahern has nothing to hide, he, and his cohorts would not be attacking the tribunal itself
