Minister Batt O'Keeffe got £10K from Owen O'Callaghan

Minister of State Batt O'Keeffe received £10K from Owen O'Callaghan during the 1992 General Election campaign, £9K of which went into his personal account. He claims this was a 'mental reimbursement' for his own expenditure on that campaign. O'Callaghan is beginning to look like the biggest political philanthropist Ireland has ever seen...

One must just wonder what the hell goes on inside FF, do these guys do any accounting?

Surely the ordinary FF member must be very annoyed with this rampant pocketing of party cash? Or am I missing the point and all cash collected by a FFer can go to the party or to the member as a reward for keeping the whole scam running?

Well at least Batt can remember the amount, the currency, the donor and he showed the social skills to be able to operate a bank account - definitely not leadership material that!

what the hell is a "mental reimbursement"?

im serious, those words just dont belong together because it sounds like he means virtual/imaginary !

maybe we've just had a lapse in the tribunal language into colloquialisms and they mean "mental" in its more conventional sense !

The words "mental reimbursement" are Patricia Dillon's.
I note Owen O'Callaghan paid the money by cheque and O'Keefe lodged it - hardly the up to the "James Bond" level that people are trying to allege against Bertie.

The other bit about the FAS worker being sent on a junket immediately co-inciding with a Quarryvale vote and following on from calls from Dunlop and O'Callaghan is more alarming.
