Aer Lingus How Low Can They Go ?

Aer Lingus have reduced your cabin baggage allowance to 6Kgs. In a despicable underhand manner (Micko’s Inside Man Surely) they will now levy a surcharge on all their loyal customers who purchased tickets in one of their many headline seeking firesales. I booked my flight for this weekend last January when you were allowed 12Kg (a whopping 2Kgs > Ryanair). Why should I now pay an additional surcharge because of their new weight restriction on cabin baggage. On the day that MJ became the latest high flying paedophile Aer Lingus are plummeting to a new all time low. Definitely a day for burying bad news.

Cabin/Carry-On Baggage Allowance

• Baggage is restricted to one piece per passenger.
• The maximum dimensions for a cabin bag are 56cms x 45cms x 25cms or 22in x 18in x 10in.
• Baggage, labelled at check-in, must weigh under 6kgs/13lbs and be small enough to fit in overhead bins or under your seat.

When did they reduce the baggage allowance ?

Aer Lingus 6kg cabin baggage limit has been that for a considerable period of time.

They announced no change to this.

I flew with them in February and was allowed 12Kgs. This weekends flight was booked in January. Why should i have to pay for their latest change in policy. I should be allowed the baggage allowance that existed at time of booking.

Code Share flights and baggage regulations at Aer Lingus

This was a quick google and came up with this.

You were allowed 12kg possible because there were 2 of you travelling.

Hell I'm not exactly known for being Pro Aer Lingus but on this occasion it is pretty clear that their policy has been 6kg cabib baggage for a considerable period of time and well before you booked.

It's been 6 kg as long as I remember and I've been a very regular customer over the last decade.

However, as long as your bag is within the dimensions, I've never seen them weight baggage. That said, 95% of my travel is out of Cork, Dublin, Heathrow or Amsterdam and I have heard that their handling agents are stricter in some Spanish airports.
