Come on ! ! ! Do people forget standing at college green for 2 and a half hours on a Friday night !
It sounds unbelievable ! But it happened ! . . . . And 10 years ago taxi drivers were earning over IR 70k per year , , and over 95% of them declared earnings of just IR 11K to the revenue.

The tale can not start wagging the dog, , , The consumer needs to be king in this instance.

I know a number of taxi drivers that now work alot harder for their customers, , , When they pick a tourist up from the airport they are now FRIENDLY! ... they try to secure the return journey to the airport when the tourists return journey.
They give cards out to people when dropping them into town, and offer to pick their customers up later that day.

I think this is one industry that the market can regulate it'self.

    No,
they could show their fare structure iin large lletters on the sides of the cabs or using their taxi lights(which most of them dont know how to use btw),

well as someone who was gonna invest in a plate to make a bit of money and ran a mile when i saw the numbers i voted yes to a cap.

as it stands its now the entire profession has been reduced to a part time job in which you get your beer money.

theres no way you could live on it and support a family anymore.

and you can see it in the service, which has gone down the toilet in terms of quality. for all those calling for the market to sort it out bear in mind we dont HAVE a free market economy across the board so its not fair to expect it for one sector.

a moritorium looks to be in order to me, with a review every three years or so.

still wouldnt mind publicans coming under the same preasuer for a few years , might get a cheaper pint for one !
