There. Feel better? Are we even?

[quote:25hn6lj4]The latest order of 22 firm and 78 options once again carries a theoretical price tag of $6 billion
What part of Theoretical do you not understand ?
Hmm. You have a very abrasive tone. Are you upset about something? Its just a conversation on a silly website, about airlines. Don't get angry.
Do calm down and play nice, theres a good boy.

Now, the word 'theoretical' has a specific meaning in the context of this sentence. I agree, the article is badly written - I had to re read some lines several times before the obscure import became clear.

So, to be fair about this, I think you should give us all your interpretation of what 'theoretical' means in the context of aircraft prices in this article.
Try to remain clam while you do so. Take deep breaths.

In your own words Ryanair reducing routes and parlking up is bad but Easyjet seems to be good, Ryanair forecast dodgy but Easyjet ok.
No, I think both are fine.
Its just that Easyjet don't have 138 aircraft coming which they'll have to pay for (6 Billion theoretically) - and then park.
This fact has obvious repercussions for one of these two carriers.
    Can you guess which one?
    It begins with 'R'......[/quote:25hn6lj4]

You should just keep planning the revolution and lets the 60 million of us who fly Ryanair continue to do so.

If it was'nt for oleary half of Ireland would'nt know how to use the internet.Aer lingus had to learn how to operate effectively. If it was'nt for the likes of O leary there would be crowes flying in and out of Hotel rooms in Dublin .He is one of the biggest assets for Irish tourism, and he may have an arrogant approach, but he has a brillant business head, shots for the hip and does not bow to political pressure and bull************************ pcism.

I was on a flight back from London about 2 weeks ago and I had a great chat with the cabin crew throughout the flight, as I was sitting on the front row of the aircraft. They get me where I want to go at a decent price, with relative comfort, with the level of service which I require - very little on a short flight - and on the whole, generally on time. I also know a couple of people in the senior management team in Ryanair and contrary to media persona, they are very nice people.

However, to argue that their extras haven't been going up in order to compensate for fuel costs is nonsense. I've seen this with my own two eyes, our family has probably booked 30 flights between Dublin and London in the last year and you can see it.
They should add a fuel surcharge like everyone else!

Re: Ryanair announces 60Mil projected losses.

Looks like a heated argument was had on this thread while most people were busy working... Couple of questions for those who appear to be more informed

    1. People are saying Ryanair are stupid to have hedged now, while oil prices are falling. Could someone please quantify this? What price are they hedged at? And what price per barrel are you assuming when you say they are stupid?

    2. Ryanair have all these extra aircraft arriving over the next four years. They are currently reducing services due to high fuel costs. Assuming oil is one the way down which it appears to be (analysts I've talked to see the price settling around $90 per barrel), they will increase their services again which will surely make use of the new aircraft. Am I wrong?

I prefer 'Debate'. Cool calm debate.

Its easy enough to find the figure. They have hedged at 125 or 129 depending on which news story you read. Hedged up to end November I believe.
That means that as prices are falling (you suggest 90 USD) they are paying 30% over the odds for the rest of this year. Doh.

Oil prices are forecast to rise again next year - just as Ryanair exits hedging. Doh, and double Doh!

They are parking 20 aircraft this winter - the approximate number of new aircraft being delivered. But they still have to pay for them (and the other 118 to follow), and parking aircraft is expensive because a) it costs a lot of money to hire a parking space, and b) because those aircraft are producing zero revenue.

Who knows where he'll be next year. If oil prics rise again, and another tranche of aircraft are delivered - whats he gonna do with them? Park them? Set fire to them and claim the insurance?
